Although he died before I was born, Heath Robinson's contraptions were in vogue in my childhood. My parents had, amongst others, a copy of his "How to run a communal home". I happen to live in a Christian Community sharing my life with about twenty others, so my memories of this book seem very relevant. Google finds some of those I remember:
It seems that Heath degenerated into drawing such cartoons in order to make a living. But he did other stuff too - these two images are gloriously dated, 1920-ish - but remarkably sensual as well. Hard to believe they came from the same man!
